4 Years to be exact

Today marks my 4th Year in Bluesky Studios!!! Who would have thought that 4 years would have passed so quickly. It was like yesterday when I first entered the main doors on the 17th Flr for my interview with our Supervisors Mike and Jim and also the Lead at that time Galen.

And now, Mike has moved on to be  a Co-Director for Ice Age 3(now i can’t go into his directory to check out his awesome animations..sigh), Jim is still a Supervisor here(at least theres still his stuff we can go check out) and Galen has become a Senior Supervisor for Ice Age 3(that means he won’t be animating at all anymore..which sucks for our team). I just want to Congratulate all of them on coming this far and wish them all the best in their new roles as this production moves on.

On another note, it saddens me to have to say goodbye to a couple others who have chosen to move on to other places. Here’s wishing you guys all the best in your next step in work Life!!! You will be dearly missed in Bluesky.

Kung Fu Panda!!

Our Animation team just got together during lunch to go see the newly released KUNGFU PANDA. I think I can say for the rest of the team…AWESOME JOB done by Dreamworks!! We were really blown away not just with Animation but with every aspect of the film. Art/Design,Layout, Camera, F/X, Stroy, etc. They were really great. It felt like every single Dept in their team was doing their part in the film and no one, I mean NO ONE needed to worry about whether the other Dept was doing their “job” and hence they could just focus on their own role in the movie.

GO see it if you Haven’t!!

Congrats Again Dreamworks Team and whoever else worked on it!

Cubicle Ideas for our move to Connecticut

So several of us in the Animation Dept were just chit chatting about our future space in the new location in Connecticut and thought it would be awesome if we could come up with themes for our spaces/cubicles instead of going with the “standard office cubicles” (which most of us thought wouldn’t fit the atmoshpere of a Design/creative environment). So it got me thinking about what I could do to personalize my space.

So here’s some ideas I sketched out. Bare in mind I am not a very Handy person.. so I am trying to keep this simple enough such that I can actually see this to the end.

Just some sketches off my head when surfing the web and watching TV. I am always exploring the poses and am not satisfied with some of my decisions and therefore sometimes some of my figures end up with multiple limbs.

Just Some Doodles…

Just some sketches I drew when surfing the web and was bored. The first 3 are some Indiana Jones inspired stuff.

These 2 are some attempts at caricaturing Aaron Hartline (one of our supervising animators) … who sadly will be leaving Bluesky. I always seem to draw him really “Evil” and “Gnarley” for some reason. Don’t be mistaken he’s actually quite the opposite .. being really nice and pleasant actually. Anywhos.. I hope he doesn’t take it to heart!! Heh heh! ALL the BEST to you Mr. Hartline.. you will be missed!!
